The lake is situated 300 meters away from the southern coast of Issyk-Kul. It was formed due to the decrease in the water level of Issyk-Kul over time, as it was once at a much higher level than it is now. The high concentration of salt in the soil surrounding the lake contributes to its remarkably high salt content.

Tuzkyol lake is located at an altitude of 1612 meters above sea level and spans an area of approximately 500 m<sup>2</sup>.

The lake itself may not leave a lasting impression, but it is worth taking a swim in it at least once in a lifetime. The panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains and the magnificent Issyk-Kul scenery is particularly impressive. It is also convenient to rinse off in the lake after swimming in the salty waters of Tuzköl.

Unfortunately, the entrance to the lake is subject to a fee, and little has been done to provide comfort to visitors, with the primary concern being the lack of proper waste management. The presence of numerous cars during the summer months raises questions about where the funds collected from visitors are being allocated. Furthermore, the dusty, unpaved road leading to the lake can detract from the experience.
