'''Skazka Canyons''' are picturesque and unique canyons located on the southern shore of [[Issyk-Kul]] in the Kyrgyz Republic. These canyons are named for their peculiar shapes and colors, making them an incredible place to stay.

==Geography of the canyons==
The canyons are located in the central part of the southern coast of Issyk-Kul, not far from the main road between Karakol and Balykchy, which is 90 km from the administrative regional center of Karakol and 240 km from the capital of the republic, Bishkek. This makes the canyons easily accessible for those travelling to the south of Issyk-Kul. The most interesting part of the canyons, which has a distinct erosion of the soil, covers an area of about 3-4 km2, though similar landscapes stretch out along the foothills of the Terskey Ala-Too in the southern part of the Issyk-Kul region. These bizarrely formed canyons were created over tens of thousands, and possibly even hundreds of thousands of years, by streams of melted water and rain. The soil's unusual color is due to its high iron content.

==Excursion route==

It will take 10-15 minutes to get to the canyons from the main road. The main route through the canyon can be divided into two parts, which can be completed in 1-1.5 hours:

* Visiting the main canyons, which can be quite crowded during the day, and a walk of 1-3 km to the west and/or east of the canyons, which offers a panoramic view of the canyons.
* You can climb a hundred meters higher into the mountains, where you can observe a panoramic view of Issyk-Kul.
* Not far from the canyons, there are cafes and glamping sites with stunning views of Issyk-Kul lake.

==Additional note==
Skazka Canyons is a truly magical and colourful place. I highly recommend you visit it when you are traveling along the southern coast of Issyk-Kul. You can get a lot of positive emotions in just 1-2 hours. It is especially suggested to come here in the morning or at sunset, as the colours of the canyons will become more vibrant and expressive.
