Boom Gorge is a picturesque gorge located 200 km east of the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek.

== Gorge Geography ==
It is situated in the northern part of the republic between the Chui and Issyk-Kul regions, and serves as the dividing line between the mountain systems of Ala-Too, Kungei Ala-Too, and the Kyrgyz Range. A motorway was constructed along the entire gorge, connecting Bishkek and Issyk-Kul Lake, and extending to the Talas region. The difference in elevation along the road is approximately 300 m.

== Excursion route ==
The length of the entire gorge is more than 30 km, and along it flows one of the major rivers of the Tien Shan, the Chu River. From the side of the Chui region, the gorge begins in the area of the small settlement of Cholok and ends at the entrances of Balykchi, the westernmost city in Issyk-Kul. The valley of the gorge is diverse and filled with interesting, picturesque, and beautiful places, such as the canyons of Kok-Moinok, Konorchek, and Suluu-Terek, which can be reached within an hour.

== Interesting facts ==
A railway link was built along the gorge during Soviet times, connecting Bishkek with the city of Balykchy (formerly Rybachye) on Issyk-Kul.
The gorge attracts great attention from people who are fond of rafting - rafting on boats on the Chu River.

It is impossible to not get into the gorge during a trip to Issyk-Kul; after all, this is a gorge through which you must pass. Such a path will leave a pleasant impression, even without stopping along the way. If you have time, it is recommended to visit the nearby canyons; they will add positive emotions.
