The canyons are located on the southern coast of Issyk-Kul, 130 km from the administrative regional center of Karakol and 200 km from the capital of the republic, Bishkek (the distance along the roads is much greater). They span a vast area along the entire coast and cover an area of more than 15 km2. The average height of the peaks of the canyons is 1750 meters above sea level.
